In order to connect to your EECS home directory, you will need a program for running FTP. There are multiple options available for using FTP such as Filezilla, WinSCP, and FireFTP.
This article will focus on the downloading, installation, and usage of Filezilla.
DOWNLOADING and INSTALLATION
Go to filezilla-project.org to begin the downloading process.
You should see a link that looks like this:
Click on it to go to the download page. You should now be on the Client Download page and see a link that looks like this:
Clicking on this link will take you to another page where the download should begin automatically.
If you are running Internet Explorer, there will be a pop up window that looks like this:
Click on Run to start the installation.
If you are running Firefox, a window like this will pop up:
Click on Save File and the download manager will pop up and will look something like this:
Double click on the installer file to begin installation.
If you are running Chrome, you will get a bar at the bottom of the window that shows the download that will look like this:
Simply click on the file to begin the installation.
The first window that pops up will look like this:
Click on next and this window will pop up:
Click on Decline and another similar window will pop up and click Decline again.
After Declining, this install window will pop up:
You can decide who you want to install it for, then click next, and this window will pop up:
Keep the boxes checked and hit next on this window and the next window, and hit install on the third window.
When you open Filezilla, you should get a window that looks like this:
To connect to your home directory, use this bar:
For the Host field, use "ssh1.eecs.wsu.edu" or refer to this article
to see the current SSH servers available for use.
For the username and password, use your EECS credentials.
For the port, use port 22.
If you entered the information correctly, you should get a window that looks like this:
You can either add it to the cache and click ok, or just click ok to continue.
Once connected, your Directory windows should look something like this:
The windows on the left side are your local host directories and the windows on the right side are now your EECS directories and files.
To get files off of your EECS account, simply select the local location of where you want it to go on the left hand side and then right click and select download on the right hand files you want.
