EECS/SDC Email ➜ WSU Email Transition Steps

(Step 1 of EECS / SDC ➜ WSU Mail series)

  • Step 1 (This article...)
  • Step 2 (Move actual emails from EECS / SDC ➜ WSU Mail) here
  • Step 3 (Import Calendar from EECS / SDC ➜ WSU) here
  • Step 4 (optional) (Import Contacts from EECS / SDC ➜ WSU) here

Follow the steps here to stop receiving mail at your @eecs.wsu.edu (or @vcea.wsu.edu or @sdc.wsu.edu) and start receiving your mail at your @wsu.edu email address.

If you get stuck or run into problems, please send an email to support@vcea.wsu.edu, call the VCEA Helpdesk at (509) 335-6773, or stop by the VCEA Helpdesk in Sloan 358.

  1. Open a web browser, and navigate to https://email.wsu.edu. We'll be using Google Chrome in this article, but any modern browser should work.

  2. Log in using your WSU Network ID and password. It's the same password you use to log into my.wsu.edu and WSU Wireless.

  3. Once you are logged in, you should see your WSU inbox. Click on the "gear" icon in the black bar at the top of the page, then click "Mail" near the bottom of the page, under the "Your app settings" header.

  4. In the "Options" menu click on "Inbox and sweep rules" under the "Mail" heading.

  5. Check for any inbox rules that forward or redirect mail to EECS or SDC. If you have any of those rules, delete them by selecting them and clicking the trash can icon.
If you make changes to your inbox rules, make sure to save them using the "Save" button above your inbox rules.

  6. In the "Options" menu click on "Forwarding" under the "Mail > Accounts" heading.  If you have forwarding to EECS or SDC turned on, turn it off by clicking the button for "Stop Forwarding"
If you make changes to your forwarding settings, make sure you save them with the "Save" button above your forwarding settings.

  7. In your web browser, navigate to one of the following addresses:
(If you use multiple VCEA mail services, you'll need to repeat steps 7 through 9 for each account)
    EECS https://mail.eecs.wsu.edu
    SDC https://mail.sdc.wsu.edu
(We're going to use EECS in our images for steps 7 - 9)

Log on using the appropriate credentials.

If you have trouble logging in, please send us an email at support@vcea.wsu.edu or call the VCEA Helpdesk at (509) 335-6773

  8. Click on "Preferences" in the menu above your inbox.

  9. Under the "Mail" section in Preferences, put your @wsu.edu email address in the "Forward a copy to:" field. You may have to scroll down a bit to find the setting.
If you make changes to your forwarding settings, make sure you save them with the "Save" button below the Zimbra logo in the top left corner of the page.

Thats it! You've successfully stopped receiving messages in your EECS or SDC mail account, and should now receive all mail at your @wsu.edu email address.
